It was scary at first,
being completely submersed,
into a place with unknown faces,
and there were so many changes.
But I was ready,
And within the first 7 hours I already,
made a new friend,
whose life I attend.
who, like me, was small,
and who felt to me like a sister.
In college I sure am going to miss her.
I was making good grades,
especially with her aid,
and together we learned during high school.
I think she's pretty cool.
It was fun to meet new people,
and not many were evil,
Together we had fun,
and making life long friends had begun.
I was growing up,
And before I knew it freshman year was over, yep!
It went that quickly,
almost too swiftly.
It was harder the second year,
school work seemed to kick into high gear.
I took my first AP class,
but I didn't let it kick my... butt.
I was learning time management,
and was quite passionate,
for keeping my grades up,
and not with red solo cups.
It was when I made the decision,
to see to what extent I could obtain wisdom,
by joining IB.
Some said it would be the death of me.
I was excited to join the program,
but not excited for its' final exams.
Which are coming up soon,
but junior and senior year has prepared me, has it prepared you?
It was an amazing four years,
and at graduation there will surely be tears.
There are so many times to remember, especially with the IB fam,
it's like having a little clan.
I was brought closer to so many people,
especially one who's currently a cripple (Trey Sterling).
And I hope you enjoy the pictures below,
they're from my high school years in case you didn't know.
(p.s. sorry to anyone I didn't upload a picture with)

Ahh Ashli! This was such a great poem! I loved how you incorporated your journey through high school and included all the wonderful pictures. I've got to say, you were one of my first friends when I joined IB and from that moment on, we've shared a happy bond. Your personality is so bright and cheerful and you never fail to make me laugh. I thank you for your support throughout these past years and just being there as a friend. I know that when you get to college, you will radiate positive energy to everyone who surrounds you and I can't wait to see what the next four years bring your way. (P.S. I'm trying not to get emotional as I type this. lol. Love you so much girl!)
ReplyDeleteAshli this was beautiful! I loved seeing how you showed progression through the years by using images and words. Along with Katya, I'm also getting very emotional right now! You have honestly been one of the best friends I have ever had- from Dr.Pepper and Twix sessions after gym meets, to going 70 down falls just to get Hosking his chicken tenders. You have been an inspiration in my life and I will miss you dearly after high school. I love you girl and I thank God for blessing me with someone as special as you in my life:)
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing poem, by an extraordinary girl. I've been blessed with you in my life, and I'm thankful for the memories we share. Our time has been short compared to all of high school, but I have to say, meeting you and getting to know you, and now dating you has been one of, if not the peak, of high school for me. I think it's crazy how close we've become, and I'm extremely lucky. Everyone knows, you are one amazing girl.
